Is the bottom layer boundary layer (hbbl) a depth of thickens?

Hello all,

I am wondering if the auxiliar variable “hbbl” is the depth or the thickness of the bottom boundary layer?? If it is the thickness I need to compute the difference with the depth to know the real depth.
