Higher compuation time

It took higher time to write a monthly data when croco coupled with pisces in parallel run. With the same configuration (nodes and processes), Physics took only 20 minutes to complete writing one month data in 600 dt. But with the same dt, it took 3 hrs when coupled with pisces. How to increases the simulation speed

Hi. When coupling PISCES (or any other biogeochemical module), computation times will increase significantly, since new tracers are added and must be computed at each time step. On average, you can expect about a fourfold increase in computation time when coupling with PISCES. However, this is not linear and will obviously depend on the dimensions (lat, lon, z) of your domain.

So, if you want to reduce computation time, you could try using the PISCES-light option (which, if I’m not mistaken, uses 9 variables instead of the 25 in the classic version), or simply increase the number of compute nodes.

When only physics is defined , Computation time for a month is 10 to 15 minutes. But when Biology is defined (PISCES quota), it tool around 3:10 minutes for one month average file to write.
