Does anyone have experiences in applications of CROCO to very small areas that are mainly dominated by density-driven currents? For example small and shallow lagoons, bays, estuaries?
Particularly, I am interested in examples where horizontal extent of the domain is up to a few kms (1-2km) and average depths of a few meters (3-6m).
If yes, did CROCO perform well in these applications? Any (publication) reports on it, or hands-on experiences?
It might be too late but just in case …
Cristèle Chevalier at IRD, MIO (France) works on lagoon. Here is a publication from her phd Moustapha Sow, from her team:
I sometimes work with her but I don’t have all the answers for her choices. So I might not be able to answer.
But what I can say is that in her work, we don’t really know exactly the temperature of the lagoon, we don’t have precise measurements. So we decide to shut down the cppkey TEMPERATURE.
We don’t use NH simulations either.
The lagoons are a bit larger than the 2 km area you’re talking about, so that might come into play as well.
