Announcing CROCO v2.1.3 and CROCO_PYTOOLS v2.0.4

Dear CROCO Users,

We are pleased to announce the release of CROCO v2.1.3, a bug-fix and stability release with no new features. Full details on code changes, improvements, and access to the latest version are available here: https://gitlab.inria.fr/croco-ocean/croco/-/releases/v2.1.3

The key improvements are :

  • Improved robustness for AGRIF nesting with high-order schemes (UP5, WENO)

  • More reliable MLD diagnostics

  • Fixes for coupled configurations and variable roughness (Z0B_VAR)

  • Better compatibility for PISCES diagnostics without XIOS

  • Compatibility for PSOURCE_NCFILE with NO_TRACER

In addition, CROCO_PYTOOLS v2.0.4, also a bug-fix update, has been released. More information, including updates and download access, can be found at: https://gitlab.inria.fr/croco-ocean/croco_pytools/-/releases/v2.0.4

This release includes:

  • New rectangular grid option in make_grid in preprocessing tools

  • Multiple fixes in preprocessing tools (Mercator download, time shifting, river generation)

  • Improved handling of memory issues and dataset chunking in XCROCO

  • Compatibility updates for recent versions of NumPy, pyinterp 2026.2.0 and setuptools
